My Mac Pro is a year newer (Octo Core 2.66 i7). I'm running the same card (GTX 285) with the same 30" ACD. I'm thinking he wouldn't get very good quality out of that thing. Anyone else rocking a GTX 285 on a Mac Pro? Not likely to happen, but would the 5870 make much of a difference vs the GTX 285? My brother-in-law has an iMac that's a few years old now. I'll keep an eye on my FPS as I start playing a couple more missions.Īnyhow, interested to hear was setting folks are using and getting good performance out of on which specs. Depth of Field in Post-Processing isn't even an option for me. Shaders is one I'd actually really like to have at Ultra for the HDR and junk. Interestingly, dropping Shaders down to High gets me 10 more FPS. And one I get to the Star Map it's at 18. Should these make much difference? After installing, I reran one of the cut scenes and saw some sections averaging at 20 FPS which is pretty brutal.

I found both updated NVIDIA drivers and CUDA 3.1.

I also figured I'd check for driver updates. The first couple of levels played fine, but one I got to the third I think when the reinforcements ship comes it, there's way more to render so things started chugging a little. Well, I didn't buy a 30" display to use it at a lower resolution so I immediately cranked it right up and left everything else as is. To add further confusion, the game recommends "Ultra" but then suggested settings for Lighting and Shadows is Low. When I launched SC, it told me my recommended settings are 1600 x 1200 and everything else maxed out to Ultra etc. I'm running an early 2008 Mac Pro (8x2.8) with a GTX 285 on a 30" ACD.
#Starcraft for mac os x Patch#
I have experienced the exact same issues as described by OP - I was actually experiencing these issues BEFORE this patch, but this latest patch has forced me off the 32-bit client and onto the 64-bit client with the result that the issues resurfaced. As far as I can tell the 32-bit client has been completely removed as of the latest patch. I have solved the OP’s described issues on my system…ĪLSO NOTE: If Starcraft client will not launch after pressing “Play” button in the launching app, ensure that in the Starcraft settings accessed within the app you have deselected “Launch 32-bit client” option. Starcraft 2 seems to not have any issues regarding access to. On July 1, the next time I went to play, is when the issues began.

That day, the latest update downloaded, and I played a game with friends without issue. The game worked fine as recently as June 28, 2020. I have no anti-virus or firewall running (mentioned because these seemed to be implicated in another thread of similar issues.

I am running on a MacMini 2010, macOS 10.13.6 (HIgh Sierra). I have deleted/reinstalled both the app and Starcraft three times, but without any success. These issues are pretty much identical to what was experienced here: Several choices in the Main menu screen (Options, HotKeys, etc.) lock the game up.

When clicking “Multiplayer”, on the screen to choose network, is not selectable (no servers listed), and LAN goes nowhere after selecting it.I will summarize.Īfter updating Starcraft (not Remastered) on July 1, 2020, I was no longer able to access, and a number of other issues cause the game to crash: I’m re-posting this from the “Classic” forum at the request of Customer Support.
